Steve has been a licensed builder for over 15 years, has been in the construction industry for almost 29 years, and has lived around building craftsman his whole life. He received a BA from Siena Heights College while attending on a baseball scholarship, and then went on to attend DePaul Law School; all the while working construction jobs to pay the bills. Steve learned the construction trades the "old-fashioned" way, by working as an apprentice in the various fields of the business; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall & framing. In Chicago he became a Master Carpenter, then moved up into management positions handling framing crews, then whole projects. Steve has built 2 homes essentially "by himself" handling every aspect of construction, with the sole exception of setting the HVAC condenser units. Since starting his own company he has personally been on the crew that built another 30 homes, before moving into a management role. It is this background that pushed him to develop an appreciation and demand for the highest quality craftsmanship in all of Cornerstone's Renovations.
Steve is married and has 3 children, and is very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, and their mission projects in and around downtown.
Brian became a licensed builder in 2009. He too learned the skills of a carpenter from the ground up, starting as a "helper" with Steve 15 years ago. Brian also attended Siena Heights College on a baseball scholarship, graduating with a BS in Business Management. He then worked briefly as the head of shipping for an automobile industry supplier. He left that position to join Steve in Chicago, and together build the dream that is Cornerstone Renovators. He has subsequently worked his way up the ladder and been a Project Manager for 4 years before becoming the company's Projects Coordinator in 2008. Brian has worked hard to develop a strong working relationship with the Cornerstone Renovators' team of subcontractors and suppliers where he has earned a reputation for honesty and hard work. Brian’s dedication to doing the job right the 1st time is reflected in the kudos from our past clients, and the exceptional quality of his homes.
Brian is married with 2 children, coaches Little League, and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
Dean joined the other Frellick brothers in 1998, directly after graduating with a Communications degree from Western Michigan University. Dean too started out as a "helper", and worked his way up through the carpentry ranks of construction eventually becoming a Project Manager. Dean's skills lie in the field of his studies, "communication", which is an asset both on the jobsite and outside in the community. He uses these skills in leading our marketing and networking around town.
Dean is married with his 1st child on the way in 2009. He is a Rotarian and is a founding member of The Dan Nielsen Charity Foundation.
Alfred attended Western Carolina University and received a BS in Business Management and a minor in Construction Management. Alfred worked for a number of construction companies before starting his own Property Management company. He joined the Cornerstone Renovators team in 2007, and has been a Project Manager for the entire time. Alfred continues furthering his education and plans to sit for the NC General Contractors exam later in 2009. He believes very strongly in the work ethic and values we aspire to at Cornerstone Renovators, and is an extremely valuable asset and member of the team.
Alfred is married and plans to start a family very soon.
Melissa met and married Brian in 2001. She attended the University of Nebraska, graduated, and then went on to Massage Therapy School. She was a practicing masseuse for 4 years, including 2 in Asheville after marrying Brian and moving to Asheville. She then went into the Administration/Human Resources field with Client Logic. Later, with SITEL she moved into the financial management side of things and worked there up until 2007. At that point the draw of the family business was too much, and she joined the team to handle the office management, and take over as CFO for Cornerstone Renovators.
Bob brings over 35 years of business management experience with Ford Motor Company to our team. The skills he used to run assembly plants and manage Ford’s employees have brought a vital piece to our systems and project management efficiencies. Bob never was involved in construction before the age of 60, but has grown very familiar and involved since "his boys" founded their business, and has come to be an important cog in the wheel.
Bob is married to Charlene Frellick (51 years & counting!), and besides Steve, Brian & Dean, has a daughter who lives in Michigan, and also has 8 grandchildren. Bob is very active in the National Amateur Baseball Federation, volunteers for a variety of things at the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, and is an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
